Madonna has a cape catastrophe at the Brit Awards
Madonna’s performance at the Brit Awards will be remembered for all the wrong reasons after she was pulled off the stage backwards after her cape failed to come off. Madonna closed out Wednesday nights Brit Awards ceremony and as she took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena performing her hit song Living For Love no one could of expected what happened next.
During the performance, Madonna failed to untie her cape quick enough for her backing dancers to tear it off and was sent flying backwards down a set of stairs. Briefly startled, the 56 year old picked herself back up and continued her performance.
Celebrities and onlookers in the audience looked shock at the scene, but gave the singer a standing ovation after the performance. The elaborate matador inspired performance was the showpiece finally to the Brit Award event which saw One Direction, Taylor Swift and James Bay wining the coveted prize.
Madonna would have been disappointed with her performance as sources close to the star said that she wanted it to be her best performance ever. One source said, “She is putting all her efforts into putting on a great show. She is working every hour, day and night, to ensure it will be her part of the show that everyone will be talking and tweeting about.”
It has been 20 years since Madonna has performed at the Brit Awards and she was quick to reassure her fans that she was alright by tweeting after the show, ‘Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight. But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I’m fine! #livingforlove’
